The playgrounds that have called Lake Pertobe home since it was built between 1974 and 1980 have changed dramatically. Original play equipment included a high wire across the Children’s lake, pine pole tower, pine pole and tyre balancing apparatus, a flying fox, maze and an old steam train.
In 1996 Council completed a Playground Development Strategy and worked towards upgrading the playgrounds to what they look like today. The latest playground development took place in 2022 and included an all-abilities swing, water splash play area and a 9m tower.
The suspension bridge is the last remaining piece of infrastructure from the original playground equipment.
Two family businesses have operated at Lake Pertobe since the 1970’s. Lake Pertobe Motor Boats and Warrnambool Paddle Boats and Canoe Hire. Providing the opportunity to get out onto the water to explore the Children’s Lake and Main Lake from a different angle.
